After all, you can’t truly be happy if you’ve never known pain. You can’t truly feel joy if you’ve never felt heartbreak. You can’t know what it’s like to be filled unless you’ve been empty.
Time is not a healer but a sculptor, carving eccentric memories into the fabric of destiny.
The wind made me shiver as i pulled my arms into my T-shirt. There I was, cold, isolated and desperate for something I knew I couldn’t have.A solution. A remedy. Anything. The silence continued except for my own footsteps. I hated it. Alone and confused was the last place I wanted to be.Somehow I knew I deserved this.
That’s ridiculous. Especially the part about Christian being manly.
Still, they have one thing I envy. Humans, if nothing else, have the good sense to die.
As Ginny and Hermione moved closer to the rest of the family, Harry had a clear view of the bodies lying next to Fred: Remus and Tonks, pale and still and peaceful-looking, apparently asleep beneath the dark, enchanted ceiling.
When you die, do you want to feel ashamed of what you’ve done with your life? Feel ashamed of what your life meant?
Every time people struggle, they survive, they do better, and then they forget, and they end up back where they started from.
I’ll stop eating steak when you stop killing spiders. Absurdity: comparing cows to spiders. Arachnids are pure evil. They’re like a cigarette manufacturer or a terrorist. They’re organized religion on eight legs.
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
Since you exited from my life story, it seems as if time stands still, and my soul has become trapped in that very moment. It’s like a coiled spring that can extend and stretch, but ultimately, it always returns to its original shape—back to that frozen moment in time.
Then you must reconcile yourself to the fact that something is always hurt by any change. If you do this, you will not be hurt yourself.
[On Jason Mashak’s book SALTY AS A LIP, as reviewed in The Prague Post:] Mashak amalgamates various national, historical and religious traditions into a myth-mash that illuminates many sects’ fanatical compartmentalizing, and the fact that so many religions and philosophies share similar goals, if not roots.
When we mourn those who die young – those who have been robbed of time – we weep for lost joys. We weep for opportunities and pleasure we ourselves have never known. We feel sure that somehow that young body would have known the yearning delight for which we searched in vain all our lives. We believe that the untried soul, trapped in its young prison, might have flown free and known the joy that we still seek.
All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.
Darkling I listen; and, for many a timeI have been half in love with easeful Death,Call’d him soft names in many a musèd rhyme,To take into the air my quiet breath.
Whatever can die is beautiful — more beautiful than a unicorn, who lives forever, and who is the most beautiful creature in the world. Do you understand me?
The true man wants two things: danger and play. For that reason he wants woman, as the most dangerous plaything.
There are three factors that influence the human experience through this journey called Life. Time. Divinity. Grace. While your time on the planet is always subject to surprises and upheavals, divinity and grace are freely, constantly, available. And the best way to deal with the inscrutable and unpredictable nature of time is to embrace the constants, divinity and grace. That’s how you learn to flow with Life – without resisting what is, with equanimity.
Life is sacred to me on all levels. Abortion does not compute with my philosophy.
You will not be young forever, so learn to use the time you have like a rare treasure.
Many have died; you also will die. The drum of death is being beaten. The world has fallen in love with a dream. Only sayings of the wise will remain.
…She kissed me on my thin lips and all my words were pushed back into my mouth. “I don’t want to die,” she whispered, “but I need to lose the shackles of this multitude of hearts.
Intelligence doesn’t get you anywhere. I think…all it does, that knowledge, it just makes you awake to see the world for what it really is.
Selling eternal life is an unbeatable business, with no customers ever asking for their money back after the goods are not delivered.
Any negative belief system will key into your survival instincts and perpetuate the idea that if you don’t follow this belief, you may be unable to survive. It tricks you into believing that nothing will be left of you if you change. The second trick of negative or fear-based beliefs is that they may tell you that it is impossible to change and there is no way out. It traps you in a vicious cycle.
History was, is, a one-way street. You have to keep walking forwards, but you don’t always need to look ahead. Sometimes you can just look around and be happy right where you are.
There are times when the actual experience of leaving something makes you wish desperately that you could stay, and then there are times when the leaving reminds you a hundred times over why exactly you had to leave in the first place.
Perhaps I know best why it is man alone who laughs; he alone suffers so deeply that he had to invent laughter.
Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.
End? No, the journey doesn’t end here. Death is just another path. One that we all must take.
I support Democrats and Republicans. And I’m telling you that the business community in this company is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until he’s gone, everybody’s going to be sitting on their thumbs.
Time is the scarcest resource and unless it is managed nothing else can be managed.
I was ready to accept the philosophy that the Party is right and that in the coming struggle you could not permit yourself any doubts after the party had made a decision.
Can a person steal happiness? Or is just another internal, infernal human trick?
When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not.
You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world.

You may die a hundred deaths without a break in the mental turmoil. Or, you may keep your body and die only in the mind. The death of the mind is the birth of wisdom.

There was no private ownership of land. “You could own a knife, or you could own a horse, but you couldn’t own ground any more than you could own the sun or the wind. The Earth was their mother and part of the Cosmos given to all creatures by the Great Spirit.
For as much as I hate the cemetery, I’ve been grateful it’s here, too. I miss my wife. It’s easier to miss her at a cemetery, where she’s never been anything but dead, than to miss her in all the places where she was alive.

I think us here to wonder, myself. To wonder. To ask. And that in wondering bout the big things and asking bout the big things, you learn about the little ones, almost by accident. But you never know nothing more about the big things than you start out with. The more I wonder, the more I love.
